FSSAI
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India is referred to as FSSAI. The food business has undergone significant transformation as a result of the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006, which was established to increase food cleanliness and quality. The government's food licencing and registration system takes this action to make sure that food products go through specific quality inspections, lowering the likelihood of adulteration and inferior products and improving manufacturer accountability by awarding food service licences.
Objectives:
Any food firm must first obtain an FSSAI licence. All food producers, retailers, and eateries are required to get a 14-digit registration or licence number, which must be printed on food packaging. All organisations engaged in the manufacturing, distribution, and transportation of food goods must be registered with or have a licence from the FSSAI. According to the Act, an FSSAI licence or FSSAI registration is required to start or operate a food business. As a result, any organisation involved in the production, processing, packaging, or distribution of food is now required to register with or get a licence from the FSSAI.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Ministry of Family Health & Welfare, Government of India, issues FSSAI Licenses. To start a food business, an application must be submitted to the FSSAI in the format required. The FSSAI will provide approval based on the application and supporting documents.
License Categories:
- State level License and Central License are the two subcategories of FSSAI License.
- FSSAI Basic registration is necessary for small businesses and start-ups with yearly sales of less than Rs. 12 lakhs. As your sales graph rises, you can upgrade from basic registration to a state licence.
- This licence is available to mid-sized businesses with an annual revenue of between Rs. 12 and 20 crores.
- This licence is often required for major businesses with an annual turnover of more than Rs. 20 crores.
- Also, it is necessary if you want to import or export food items or work for the government
